Mirrored Walls
This rule checks for walls that have been flipped, either by mirroring or by changing their facing direction. While this may not be a problem in most BIM workflows, some prefab production processes rely on strict wall orientations and may fail or produce incorrect components when walls are mirrored.
When to Use This Rule
Only enable this rule if it is explicitly required by your project's prefab supplier or construction workflow. In typical modeling environments, flipped walls are not problematic, but in off-site manufacturing scenarios (e.g., panelized or precast systems), maintaining original wall orientation is often critical.
How to Fix
If DAQS Assist reports walls that are flipped:
- Review the orientation of the flagged wall(s) in your Revit model.
- Use the Flip control arrows in the Modify tab (or click the double arrow symbol near the wall) to restore the correct facing or location.
- Verify with your supplier or model checker whether the wall’s current orientation is acceptable before making changes.
Why This Matters
In prefab construction, walls are often manufactured based on their orientation in the model. A mirrored wall may lead to:
- Incorrect placement of openings (e.g., windows or doors on the wrong side)
- Misaligned finishes or panel connections
- Higher production costs due to unexpected rework
If you are unsure whether this rule applies to your workflow, consult your prefab partner or BIM coordinator.
